The Waugh Blog (pronounced wah-blahg)
I am Josh.
I grew up in Spring Hill, Florida (just north of Tampa, and yes, by the mermaids in Weeki Wachee). I was the ‘son of a preacher man’ and grew up in the church. Being one of four kids in my family, I was your stereotypical middle child. Family means the world to me.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
At a young age, I gave my life to Jesus. I continue to grow in my faith and seek to live my life with an eternal perspective and God as the leader of my life.
I am a husband.
In high school, I started dating a sweet girl named Susie. She was cute. 6 years later, we were married! Who said high school sweet hearts don’t make it?
Susie is my best friend, biggest fan, number one supporter and my sister in Christ. I love her so much. I don’t know where I would be without her.
I am a father.
As of March 2019, we were blessed with our third baby girl. All girls! The Lord apparently wants me to be Daddy to those girls.
I am a pastor.
Growing up, I knew I’d be a pastor. I mean, that’s what my dad did so I was supposed to do that too, right? Through high school and college I loved music, student ministry and preaching.
After serving as a youth and college pastor for several years, I began my journey as a full time worship pastor. Never thought I would be a worship pastor. But, I love to worship Jesus… and I love pastoring people. It was a perfect match.
I received my Bachelors in Religion with a concentration in congregational studies from Samford University… Sam, not Stan. Now, Susie and I live in Tennessee where I serve as the Minister of Contemporary Worship for First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.
